Trunk Shows

As most of you know from reading my blog, I present my trunk show to quilt guilds pretty frequently.
I did my very first trunk show when I was 15 and after doing that first show, I have been continuously invited to other guilds or referred from one guild member to another. I have been so lucky to have had the opportunity to visit various towns and meet so many fabulous quilters.
Trunk shows are probably my favourite part of what I do. It's really  hard to have a conversation about quilting with someone who does not quilt, and even showing quilts to "non-quilters" is just not the same as showing it to someone who truly understands and can relate to all the hard work you put into it. I love sharing tips, techniques, stories and showcasing my work to a room full of people who are just as excited to be there as I am.
The only unfortunate thing is that while I am a full time university student, it is hard to be able to get to guild meetings because of class time or exam conflicts. However, since my exams for this semester end in April, that means I have lots of shows coming up in May & June.

I have a fun little video clip that I have just recently posted onto my Youtube channel. It is a small portion of a quilt show that I presented to the Lindsay Creative Quilter's Guild back in April 2012. Follow the link if you would like to watch my "Trunk Show Sneak Peak"

For anyone who is interested, here is a list of some of the guilds I will be visiting this spring 2013 :)

May 21st - Trent Valley Quilter's Guild - Trenton ON
May 23rd - Simcoe County Quilter's Guild - Barrie ON
June 25th - Lakeshore Quilter's Guild - Port Hope ON

ETSY

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Etsy, it is an online network of "shops" who create various handmade items and sell them worldwide.
Quilter's Workshop is now on Etsy, under the name QuiltersWorkshopCA.
I will be selling some small sewn items that are easy to ship or unique things that people cannot really purchase in stores.
If you'd like to check out my Etsy Shop, please click on the link :)

Better Picture!

Here we go! Finally a better picture of what my Valentine placemats look like on the kitchen table!

And here is a picture of a fun little "bow-pillow" that I made last night. It's going to be a sample for my classes :)

Valentine's Day...a few days late!

Hi there!

I had this idea to make some heart-shaped placemats for Valentine's Day. I'll post a better picture soon, but this is what I have to show right now (its a bit blurry!) I drew the template myself and used a rectangular placemat to help me estimate the size of the heart. The fabric I used has a faint plaid in it to give it some more texture. No fancy quilting this time, just stop stitched the edges when I was finished, so that I could have them done in time for Valentine's Day.

And what's a Valentine's Day without some awesome cookies, on a fabric-modpodge plate of course! :)

Craft Show 2013 & COOKIES!

Hey everyone!

Super excited for the Picks & Giggles Mom to Mom craft show tomorrow held at Kingsway College, Oshawa ON. Show is 9-3 and you can get a $1-off admission if you visit their website! :)

At the show I will be selling a large variety of items including some special things made by "Tuttle Wood Products" to see some photos, check out the Facebook page! http://www.facebook.com/TuttleWoodProducts?ref=hl

I also made some modpodge fabric plates for the show! Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I came up with these: (sorry that the photo is in the wrong direction, normally I am able to rotate the photos, but for some reason just this one file wouldn't work!)
And what better to fill these pretty Valentine Plates than with some red velvet, white chocolate chip cookies!

I put a piece of cling-wrap over the plate so I wouldn't get it dirty from taking the picture, that's why it looks glossy! As I am still in need of using this plate for demos and for my show tomorrow!
I got my recipe from http://www.cookingclassy.com/2012/08/red-velvet-white-chocolate-chip-cookies/

They taste AWESOME, if I do say so myself ;)

New Youtube Videos

I uploaded two videos this week.

The first one is called "sewing on buttons; for college boys" - this video is inspired by my friends at school, as many of them have no idea how to sew on a button, so I made this video just for fun :)

And for those of us who already know how to properly sew on a button, the second video is a review on the Olfa Chenille Cutter. I wrote a blog review about it a while ago, but I thought a video would be beneficial.

Enjoy! :)
