Sewing Christmas Gift Ideas & Custom Orders - 2015

Hi Everyone!

Last night I finally got around to posting a new inspiration video on quick and easy projects that you could whip up before Christmas or even use as stocking stuffers!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2acprCkJY4

I've done this type of video for the past two years and I am so happy to come back each year with new last minute ideas that you can make mostly using materials you already have! If you're interested in viewing the videos from previous years, or other full-length tutorials, check out my YouTube channel. :)

I also have successfully finished all of my custom orders that needed to be done before the 19th of December!
Here's all ELEVEN memory pillows that I received as orders, just only over the past week.

Totally exhausted after completing this order, and also teaching additional classes for my students to have the opportunity to complete their own Christmas projects. It is now time for me to start my own holiday shopping/gift making.

Are you working on anything unique for Christmas gifts this year? I'd love to see photos of what you're working on, or photos of anything you make from my videos!

Happy Sewing!

Kijiji Finds & Custom Order

Hi Everyone!

I picked up this gem last night on kijiji. She's absolutely beautiful and in great condition. I know she isn't designed to be a real adjustable mannequin, but the height of the stand is fully adjustable, she fits my clothes perfectly and she looks great naked too! HA!

For those of you who know, I am moving my business at the end of the summer, and she will look absolutely fabulous in my new location (which is TBA!)

Any name suggestions? ....

Over the past week or so, I've been busy perfecting this custom order sahara hat. These hats are perfect for little ones, because the back of the hat has a veil that will protect necks, shoulders and backs from getting too much sun! Fully protects their face and ears as well! This hat has an adjustable elastic strap, which can be removed entirely. The front brim can be worn down or folded up, as shown in the photos below.

If anyone has not yet registered for summer courses, I only have availability in my Wednesday evening classes. Please send an E-mail to quilters.workshop@gmail.com to confirm dates! Summer courses begin on Monday July 6th 2015!

Little Gift Items...

Hello Everyone!

Just wanted to share a couple of things that I've been working on lately!

1. I completed this custom order quilt. It is made using a variety of baby clothing items including receiving blankets, hats, socks, bibs, etc. It is backed with flannel, hand bound and has a hanging sleeve on the backing (requested by client)
If you are interested in having a quilt similar to this one made, please E-mail me at quilters.workshop@gmail.com

2. I made this adorable little plush elephant. I think these would make an excellent little baby gift, especially with Christmas approaching. I'll eventually have more of these done in a variety of colours. ($10 each)

3. Fabric bookmarks make a great gift if you are giving a book as a gift this holiday season, or if you just want to tuck one inside a Christmas card for the "book-addict" on your list! ($2 each)
I'll have loads of these for sale at my upcoming craft show on November 22nd in Whitby ON. (additional information for the craft show is provided in the blog post below this one)

Some Recent Custom Orders

I've recently been working on a few different custom orders, (on top of teaching lessons and preparing for upcoming craft shows) so I thought I would share them with you :)

The first item is a custom order for a quilt made using baby clothing, receiving blankets, hats, and socks. I have the majority of the quilt top assembled. I think this quilt is interesting, due to the textures of the various fabrics, pockets, hats (they are appliqued on but you can still lift the bottom of the hat to open it, and feel the inside), appliqued socks, etc.

Here are a couple of photos as of right now:

This is a close-up area showing a sock, a denim pocket and a shirt that I kept the collar and
buttons on.

If you are interested in making a quilt using T-shirts or baby clothing, please note that you need to back all of your cut materials with a light weight fusible interfacing. This will make sewing the pieces together so much easier, as the interfacing will prevent the materials from stretching.

In addition to working on this quilt order, I've also been working on this order for a batman stocking!

Stay tuned for more photos of what I'm making lately!
