Summer Classes 2015

Hi Everyone!

I'm pleased to announce that my summer classes are off to a great start!

This summer my classes are filled with new and returning students, first-time sewers, adults, children and even mother-daughter combos! Here's a photo from one of my classes last week, two first-time sewers completing their first projects - pillowcases! Very proud of them!

This photo is a dress made by one of my returning adult students, who made this gorgeous Frozen themed dress for a very special little girl. Doesn't she look fabulous in her one-of-a-kind dress? 

If you have not signed up for classes yet, I have just ONE space left in my Monday evenings, starting on July 20th 2015. 6:30pm-8:30pm

As for what I've been working on lately...

I've been jumping back into some paper piecing recently and have fallen in love with this block. 

(I came across the pattern on Craftsy)

I'm not quite sure what I want to do with it, or if I want to make several more and make a quilt....oh the possibilities.

Christmas Quilts, Post 4

Today's wall hanging is really simple!

I took a paper piecing foundation block of a snowman's head from my Electric Quilt program.
I then enlarged the paper piecing block to my desired size, and instead of printing out the foundation pattern, I selected the option to print out the templates/cutting directions.

Paper piecing small blocks is done for the purpose of being able to piece together a block that has really tiny pieces, that you would not be able to put together otherwise. However, it is actually quite difficult to cheat and use a paper piecing pattern for pieces that are too large. If they are large enough to piece together normally, then that is what you do! It is important to utilize the proper techniques for specific projects.

His eyes and nose are machine appliqued, and his mouth is hand embroidered. I added an actual scarf at the end, to add more detailing.

This is a quick idea that can be done for any block you chose from Electric Quilt. (or any other foundation piecing pattern)

March...already?

I can not believe that it is already March! wow!

Last Saturday in my class one of my star students completed her wall hanging. It is a paper pieced light house scene, with tiny sail boats in the ocean. Very pretty and so well done, especially for dealing with so many tiny pieces! I'm so proud of her accomplishment.
