As many of you know, I am very much so in love with baking and cake decorating.
I think sewing and quilting will always win over cake decorating, simply because quilted items stick around a lot longer than edible works of art.
Recently, I made 3 dozen sugar cookies and 4 dozen cupcakes for a Masquerade Ball event.
I thought I would share my icing techniques for both the cookies and cupcakes, to give all my fellow-bakers some ideas and share some tips, that you may wish to use for upcoming Easter baking!
Here's the YouTube video! Enjoy!

Spring is Coming + Summer Updates !
Hi Everyone!
Is anyone else loving this weather?! The sunshine feels sooo good after this long and bitterly cold winter we have had!
A couple of my students finished some awesome projects this past Saturday, and I thought I would share the photos with you, because I'm so proud of their accomplishments.
Cheryl, one of my adult students is making "Frozen" themed dresses for her Granddaughters. Here is one of the lovely girls modelling her new "Frozen" dress. This dress looks like so much fun to spin and twirl around in!
As for what I've been up to...I've been doing lots of baking lately! And as always, prepping for upcoming spring craft shows and working away at summer project samples.
Speaking of which, the final day of classes for the Spring 2015 term, is Saturday June 27th 2015.
I will be hosting a Summer Open House event, which will provide new-comers with an opportunity to register for summer classes, and as well, it will be a day for all students to choose projects that they wish to work on over the course of the summer. More info to come!
Summer classes will commence on Monday July 6th 2015
Classes will run every Monday and Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30PM, throughout the months of July and August.
The final day of summer classes will be Thursday August 27th 2015
I will be accepting registration for summer classes, beginning on the day of the open house, which will be held near the end of May. The date is TBA :)
Interested in hosting a "Sewing Birthday Party" this summer? The details are below!
-The cost of a 2.5-3 hour party is $40 + the cost of each "guest package" (which will depend on which party-project is selected) x the number of party guests
For example, if there are four party guests, who wish to create pillowcases, the cost of the party is $40+ ($15 x 4 guests) = $100
-A maximum of six participants is allowed, with a minimum of three
-There are two party project options. The first option is a "pillowcase party". Where all six party guests will sew their own standard-pillowcase using fabrics of their choice. The second option is an "upcycled denim carry-bag". All six party guests will create a carry bag using denim.
-The cost of the pillowcase party is $15 per guest, and the cost of the upcycled denim bag is $10 per guest
-All six party guests must create the same project (Ex. all party guests make a pillowcase, or all party guests make denim carry bags)
-Parties must be booked a minimum of three weeks in advance
-Parties are booked in 2.5-3 hour increments. As this is approximately how long it may take for each party guest to complete their project
-A maximum of three adults may stay to observe the party, but must not interfere directly with the sewing lesson. Sewing machines must be used with caution and with minimal distraction. Even though this is advertised as a "party" it is essentially a sewing class/lesson.
-A minimum of 50% of the total cost of the party package must be paid for upon booking the party. The remaining 50% of the cost must be paid for a minimum of 24 hours prior to the party date. (Acceptable methods of payment include cash, cheque, E-transfer, Visa and MasterCard)

Wendy, another one of my adult students completed this baby-sized rag quilt. She is amazing at cross-stitch, and has incorporated it into the quilt.

Quilted Sleeping Bag
I've recently been working on some samples of new projects that I will be adding to my selection of projects for my summer classes.
The most recent project that I've designed is this quilted sleeping bag. The outer shell is made of flannel and the inside is lined with minky. (Who doesn't love cuddling minky?)
There are elastic ties sewn into the seam at the end of the sleeping bag, which will secure the sleeping bag once it is rolled up, like this:
Aside from getting ready for summer project samples, I've been a busy bee making loads of small things, for an upcoming craft show.
I'll be participating in a spring craft show, hosted by Cuddly Cats Rescue. The venue will be
All Saints High School in Whitby, on May 2nd and 3rd 2015. More details to come, closer to the date!
If you have any requests for blog posts or YouTube tutorials, please ask! I love hearing from you!

Where Have I Been?!
Hello!
Apologies for the lack of blog posts in January...I'm not off to a good start for 2015 am I?
Life has gotten a little crazy lately (as if my life was not already hectic enough, haha)
Although I have not been doing a whole lot of sewing lately, I did create this little masterpiece a couple of weeks back, for my boyfriend's surprise Birthday party.
It was my first attempt at a 3D fondant cake.
Now I can hear you all saying, "this is a quilting blog, not a baking blog! Where are your sewing photos? Where are the quilting tutorials?"
I've got you, don't worry. I am busy making up a few new Valentine's Day themed sewing/quilting projects, and I will be making a YouTube video, featuring all of those new items, very , very soon!
In the meantime, if you are new to my blog, you can definitely check out last year's video! You may be inspired :)

This coming weekend I will be taking a trip to Sudbury ON to visit a very good friend of mine who attends university there.
So a friendly reminder to my students that there will be no sewing classes this
Saturday, January 31st.
To keep up to date on what I"m working on, follow me on Instagram :) quilters.workshop
Also, if you make something from one of my videos, use the hashtag #quiltersworkshop , when posting your photos, I'd love to see them!
Happy Stitching!

I'm quite happy with the results of it.
I will be doing some Valentine's Day baking over the next couple of weeks. Last night I caved and made some blondies though. Here are my brown sugar, white chocolate chip, valentine's day blondies, topped with cream cheese icing. I did make these last year, except back then I use some red and pink smarties, instead of chocolate chips, and I did not use any icing.

First Post of 2015!
Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a fantastic and safe holiday and are off to a great start in 2015!
In my last post I showed some quilt blocks that I was working on. Sadly this is all that I have done on it during the holiday. It was a very hectic break for me, so the quilt top is completed. But it is missing the three B's : borders, backing and binding! Its never too late to work on a Christmas project, right?
I had a few adventures in some small towns, East of where I live in Ontario, and I came across this monument of a quilt. I was here about 5 years ago, when I did a trunk show presentation for one of the local quilt guilds. I admit I had forgotten of its existence, but it made me smile and made my day! Are there any needlework monuments where you live? Or have you ever come across any? If you know where this particular one is, then you are awesome and we need to be best friends. ;)
Wishing everyone a great new year!
Love
Tiffany

Now, what did I get for Christmas, you might ask? As you can see by the photo below, I got surprised with a brand new handmade hutch for my guinea pig! (Yes, his name is Pig) My boyfriend made this from scratch, it has a pull-out bottom for easy cleaning, a little hide-away so pig can burrow, with a door so that I can get him out of it if I need to, a ramp that leads to the upstairs, and the top opens fully for easy access to clean and feed mister Pig. Photos of Pig inside his new palace will follow. :)
