Holiday Distractions

Is anyone feeling very easily distracted lately? I AM!

I have studying and assignments to do, with finals coming up, but it is SO hard to stay focused when it seems like the people around you are having so much more fun, preparing for the holidays!
I spent some time baking cookies on the weekend, it was a nice break from school work! (What on earth is a quilter doing in a kitchen? I have no idea!)

Also, the Winter edition of Quilter's Connection magazine, that I am being featured in, is now out and available to purchase either online or in store. (mine is in the mail and on it's way from BC. so I have not yet seen it!) It is available at Chapter's or at select quilt shops including Evelyn's in Newmarket and Sew Sister's in Toronto.

I'd much rather be sewing Christmas gifts or shopping or doing more holiday baking, but I am stuck doing school work for another few weeks until the end of finals on December 20th.

The craft show I did on Tuesday night went well too!

I am off to Brampton this weekend for a cheerleading competition, PCA Nationals! Our team is a varsity team, consisting of both Durham College and UOIT students. Very excited!

I wish everyone good luck with avoiding distraction in order to accomplish everything on their to-do list!

Batik Quilt

This is a photo of my very first quilt done completely in Batik fabrics. I'm very pleased with the end result. The quilt pattern is called Rhapsody in Bloom and was featured in the March/April edition of Quiltmaker magazine, designed by Doug Leko (the boy I talk about at my trunk shows LOL).

Also off to another craft show tomorrow, Tuesday November 29th! It is being held at the Kingsview United Church, 505 Adelaide Ave. Oshawa. The show runs from 3pm-8pm.

Advent Calendar

Hi Everyone!

On Tuesday evening I presented my trunk show to the Port Perry Patchers Quilt Guild. Although slightly unorganized due to the absence of a few key guild members, the show was wonderful and I was warmly welcomed by a great group of quilters, even some young faces were in the crowd which was lovely to see.

Yesterday was also my Father's Birthday. Both my Mother and him, love my advent calendar that I made. I spent about an hour on Saturday night just embroidering the numbers on it. But it turned out nicely. If anyone is interested in making one of their own, they can E-mail me and I can send you some instructions. I came up with the pattern myself, so you cannot find the pattern in a book or magazine. My E-mail is quilters.workshop@gmail.com.

Every quilter has a masterpiece within, never be afraid to try anything new.

Trunk Show

I am very excited for tomorrow, I will be presenting my trunk show to the Port Perry Guild.
I worked very hard last night to finish the binding on one of my latest quilts so that I will be able to bring it with me to the meeting.

I finished designing a new advent calendar, I plan on giving it to my Dad for his Birthday, on Wednesday so I am unable to post the picture of it until then!

I recently re-ordered next year's subscription to QuiltMaker magazine, it is my favourite quilting magazine, the patterns are always accurate and easy to follow especially for beginner quilters. I find there are more patterns and fewer written articles/ads compared to other magazines, which is nice to see.

I will be posting pictures within the next day or so!

November

The craft show held at Durham College proved to be a success! What an exciting weekend and great way to meet other crafters and people who appreciate your art.
I'll be at a craft show, held this coming Saturday november 12th, 10AM-4PM at the Ajax Community Centre.

I'm working away at a few new ideas for Christmas gifts, I have 2 large quilts that are waiting to be bound and several smaller projects on the go. I will post pictures as soon as I complete them! It would be very inspiring for Christmas ideas.
